Welcome to the Lit for Black Kids website. These Terms of Use constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lit for Black Kids. Please read these Terms of Use and Privacy Policy carefully before using the Lit for Black Kids website.

The terms and conditions and privacy policy stated below identify what a user of the Lit for Black Kids website can expect from Lit for Black Kids and what Lit for Black Kids in turn expects from Users. Brianna Perkins owns www.litforblackkids.com. The Services are, as between you and www.litforblackkids.com, owned by Brianna Perkins, and are protected by copyright, trade secret, trademark and other US and foreign laws. This Agreement doesn't grant you any right, title or interest in the Services, others’ User Content, our trademarks, logos or other brand features or intellectual property or trade secrets or others’ content in the Services. You agree not to change, modify, translate or otherwise create derivative works of the Services or others’ User Content.

We reserve these rights, which we may exercise at any time and in our sole discretion, and without liability or notice to you (except where prohibited by applicable law): (a) we may change parts or all of the Services and their functionality; (b) we may suspend or discontinue parts or all of the Services; (c) we may terminate, suspend, restrict or disable your access to or use of parts or all of the Services; (d) we may terminate, suspend, restrict or disable access to your Accounts or parts, some or all of Your Sites; and (e) we may change our eligibility criteria to use the Services (and if such eligibility criteria changes are prohibited by law where you live, we may revoke your right to use the Services in that jurisdiction).

A.    To use some of the functionality on www.litforblackkids.com, you will be required to create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information. You also agree to keep your account information up to date at all times as we may need to use this information to contact you.

B.    You are responsible for safeguarding your account information, including but not limited to ensuring that others do have access to your accounts or the passwords used to access your accounts. You are responsible for all activity on your accounts.  We are not liable for any acts or omissions by you or anyone else in connection with your accounts. You must contact us if you know or have any reason to suspect that your Accounts or passwords have been stolen, misappropriated or otherwise compromised or in case of any actual or suspected unauthorized use of your Accounts.

C. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim any and all liability for any loss, cost or damage (direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise) suffered by you as a result of your use of the site or from any computer virus transmitted through the site, or other sites accessed from the site, regardless of whether such loss, cost or damage arises from our negligence or otherwise, and regardless of whether we are or have been expressly informed of the possibility of such loss or damage. In no event shall our total liability to you for all damages, costs, losses and causes of action in the aggregate (whether in contract, tort, including, but not limited to, negligence, strict liability or product liability) arising from your use of the site exceed, in the aggregate, $50.00 (us).

D.    www.litforblackkids.com is not intended for nor should it be used by children that are under the age of 16. By using www.litforblackkids.com, you are indicating that you are at least 16 years old. If you live in a place that requires parent or guardian consent, they will may need to agree to the Terms on your behalf.

You hereby indemnify Brianna Perkins and Lit For Black Kids against any loss, damage, or cost arising out of your use of the Site, any of its services, or any information accessible over or through the Site, including information obtained from Interfacing Sites, your submission or transmission of information or material on or through the Site or Interfacing Sites, or your violation of these Terms of Use, the terms of use of Interfacing Sites, or any other laws, regulations, and rules. You also hereby indemnify Brianna Perkins and Lit For Black Kids against any claims that any information or material you have submitted or will submit to us is in violation of any law or in breach of any third party rights (including, but not limited to, claims in respect of defamation, invasion of privacy, breach of confidence, infringement of copyright, or infringement or violation of any other intellectual property right). We reserve the right to exclusively defend and control any claims arising from the above and any such indemnification matters, and you hereby agree to cooperate fully with us in any such defenses.

Before filing a claim against www.litforblackkids.com, you agree to try to resolve the dispute by first emailing litforblackkids@gmail.com with a description of your claim. We'll try to resolve the dispute informally by following up via email, phone or other methods.

We may modify the Terms of Use from time-to-time, and will post the most current version on our site. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically for updates, which shall come into effect when posted. By continuing to use or access the Services after any modifications come into effect, you agree to be bound by the modified Terms. If you disagree with our changes, then you must stop accessing www.litforblackkids.com and using the Services. Any existing services must be canceled

We collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser and we may use this information to generate aggregate statistics about visitors to our Site, including, without limitation:

  • Device type (e.g., desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.)

  • to carry out our obligations arising from your Virtual Event (e.g. interviews, read alouds) registration, or any other contract entered into between you and us and to provide you with the information, products, and Virtual Event registration services that you request from us;

  • to organize Virtual Events that you have purchased or registered for, and to provide you with information, and other materials, relating to the content of the Virtual Event, the speakers, sponsors, and other attendees;

  • to provide our newsletter and other publications, provided you have given your consent;

  • to respond to your questions and provide related Virtual Event registration services;

  • to provide you with information about other Virtual Events, products, and services we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased, provided you have not opted-out of receiving that information;

  • to provide you, or permit selected third parties to provide you, with information about Virtual Events, products, or services we feel may interest you, provided you have given your consent;

  • to transfer your information as part of a merger or sale of the business;

  • to notify you about changes to our Virtual Events; and

  • to ensure that content from our Site is presented most effectively for you and your computer.

We will use Personal Data that we have collected about your use of our Site:

  • to administer our Site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;
